I'm running this on my own - is Checkbase too much?

It's actually built for you. Large providers have a compliance manager who can stitch together spreadsheets, shared drives, and a HR tool. Solo and small operators don't. Checkbase replaces all of that with one workspace where worker docs, participant files, and audit evidence live in the same place - and the system tells you what's expiring instead of waiting for you to check.

What does the Essential tier actually include?

From $179/month: 20 participants, unlimited staff, unlimited SIL houses, full worker + participant compliance modules, expiry alerts, audit-readiness dashboard, and the auditor portal. The only thing locked behind higher tiers is participant count - everything else is identical. If you grow past 20 participants we'll let you know and you can upgrade in two clicks.

Will it work on my phone?

Yes. The whole app is mobile-responsive - you can upload a worker's CPR certificate from your phone after their training, mark a participant's service agreement reviewed during a planning meeting, or check your readiness score on the way to a site visit. We don't make you carry a laptop to do compliance.

How long does setup actually take?

Most small providers are running in under an hour. Sign up, add your team via CSV or one-at-a-time, add your participants the same way, upload existing documents into the slots Checkbase has waiting for them. The doc catalogue is pre-built - you're not designing a system, you're filling in the artefacts the system already knows the audit will ask for.

What happens at audit time?

Either of two flows. Quick: hit Generate Evidence Pack on the audit page - you get a paginated PDF (cover page, org docs, per-participant + per-worker + per-house sections, status pills, expiry dates) you can hand to your auditor. Full: invite your auditor by email; they sign in via OTP, request specific participants (gated by per-participant consent), view + verify + flag documents inline, and submit findings back as remediation tasks for you to action.

Do I need a compliance background to use it?

No. Checkbase encodes the NDIS Practice Standards artefact set so you don't have to interpret the framework - every required document has a slot, an expiry policy, and a description of what the audit looks for.
